NEWS FROM IACT

IACT members conduct Electronic Identity Theft workshop for nearly 300 members of law enforcement

September 23, 2005

TIBRS (Tennessee Incident Based Reporting System) is the system where all police, educational, and other institutional records and reports are recorded, and are then transmitted to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI). This information goes from the TBI to the FBI.

The purpose behind TIBRS is to effectively and accurately track information related to crimes in order to identify crime trends, and aggregate crime statistics.

The Annual TIBRS Conference is a statewide training event for law enforcement. The "Electronic Identity Theft" training was conducted by Casey Rackley, VP FCT and Tammy Alexander, IACT Program Coordinator.

The response was encouraging. Many LE's responded by asking if we could perform in-service at their facilities. We made our materials available for everyone to freely use and distribute at their local departments.

We are also trying to establish a seperate catagory for cybercrime, so that we may track cybercrime statistics in Tennessee. If you have any information on how to further these efforts, or would like us to perform in-service at your facility or ours, please contact Tammy Alexander at: 865-688-9422 or tam at iawire.org.
