Fountainhead College of Technology conducted an Identity Theft seminar for the Smoky Mountain Chapter of the American Society of Training and Development (ASTD).
Tammy Alexander of Fountainhead College discussed in detail how identity theft occurs, how the information obtained is used, prevention techniques, and the steps one should take if they become a victim of identity theft.
As part of their information assurance initiative, Fountainhead College is conducting a security awareness community outreach program. "According to the Federal Trade Commission, Identity Theft accounted for 42% of all complaints received by the FTC in 2003. This is a serious problem, and as experts in the field of information assurance, we feel it is our duty to educate our community on these matters," said Tammy Alexander, Information Assurance Program Coordinator.
Fountainhead College is the only institution in Tennessee authorized to award four information assurance certificates approved by the National Security Agency's (NSA) Committee on National Security Systems (CNSS) .
The college was founded in 1947, is located on Tazewell Pike in Fountain City and was formerly Tennessee Institute of Electronics. It offers bachelor degrees in network security & forensics and technical management, as well as associate degrees in computer programming, website development, information technology and electronics engineering.
