Kennesaw State University's CISEA Members Join IACT Advisory Board

Fountainhead College of Technology's Center for Information Assurance & Cybersecurity Training (IACT) is proud to announce that members from Kennesaw State University's distinguished Center for Information Security Education and Awareness (CISEA) have joined the IACT Advisory Board.

Dr. Michael Whitman, CISSP, is a Professor of Information Systems in the Department of Computer Science and Information Systems at Kennesaw State University, GA. He is also the Director of the Center for Information Security Education and Awareness at KSU, and the Coordinator of the Bachelor of Science in Information Security and Assurance. Dr. Whitman received his Ph.D. in Management Information Systems, an MBA and a Bachelor's Degree in Management from Auburn University. Dr. Whitman's current research interests include information security, security policy, computer use ethics and IS research methods. He has published articles on these topics in top journals such as Information Systems Research, Communications of the ACM, Information & Management, the Journal of International Business Systems, and the Journal of Computer Information Systems. He has delivered frequent presentations on Information Security curriculum at national and international conferences and at dozens of events sponsored by Course Technology throughout the country. Dr. Whitman has published numerous texts in Information Security including Principles of Information Security, 2nd ed. © 2005, Management of Information Security © 2004, Hands-On Information Security Lab Manual, 2nd Ed. © 2005, Readings and Cases in the Management of INformation Security, with his latest text: Principles of Incident Response and Disaster Recovery due out March 2006; all from Course Technology.

Prof. Herbert Mattord, CISSP, is the Operations Manager for the Center for Information Security Education and Awareness , and Instructor of Information Systems and Information Security Department of Computer Science and Information Systems. Prof Mattord is an active instructor and text author in areas of Information Security. Prof. Mattord is also an Instructor of IS and a former information security manager at Georgia-Pacific Corporation, a multinational forest-products company. He also holds the CISSP and prior to moving to a full-time academic position was very active in professional information security activities across the country. He is the co-author of Principles of Information Security, 2nd ed, Management of Information Security, the Hands-On Information Security Lab Manual, Readings and Cases in the Management of Information Security, and the forthcoming Principles of Incident Response and Disaster Recovery. He is also the coordinator for the Certificate in Information Security and Assurance.

We are honored to have CISEA members as part of the IACT Advisory Board, and look forward to thier valuable input to our program.

About Fountainhead College of Technology's (FCT) Center for Information Assurance & Cybersecurity Training (IACT)

Fountainhead College of Technology, formerly Tennessee Institute of Electronics, was founded in 1947 and is committed to using it resources to significantly contribute to efforts to secure the nation's critical infrastructure. In 1999 the college began offering an associate's degree in Information Technology with curriculum developed to include information security training. In 2002 the college began development of a baccalaureate degree in Network Security and Forensics; and in 2003 Fountainhead College of Technology became the first college in the southeast to offer a computer security focused baccalaureate degree. The mission of the IACT center is to develop and maintain a strong information assurance curriculum that adheres to national standards, and to also address the cybersecurity needs of the community by offering training and support for Fountainhead College of Technology students, staff, and faculty; local law enforcement; government agencies; and information technology professionals.
