Join Us For Our Presentation on Cybersquatting at This Year's TechnoSec Conference

May 5, 2007

Have you accidentally mistyped or misspelled a domain name and ended up finding another similar product in front of you? For example, you want to find out other locations for Bally Total Fitness. Having gone to their website a few times before, you simply type the domain name in directly. Instead of typing www.ballyfitness.com, you accidentally type www.ballysfitness.com. What happens? Instead of finding the information you were seeking, you instead find an advertisement for a bottle of diet pills. This technique is a type of cybersquatting called typosquatting.

Beware of internet marketers who resort to unethical techniques to capture traffic and leads for their clients. These marketers and other cybersquatters may have a large bag of unethical tricks to manipulate traffic and leads away from your domain including domain name pinching, kiting, and keyword stuffing. Learn how these techniques work, how to read the fine print in your internet marketing contracts and what to do if these crimes have already been perpetrated against you by attending our presentation on Cybersquatting at this year’s annual TechnoSec conference next month, on June 4th.

This is a terrific way to combine great security training with a little sand and sun as the conference will be held in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Fountainhead students and graduates may attend the training for free as VIP guests of the college. Those interested in attending should contact Casey Rackley or Tammy Alexander for more details.
